THE TOTALITY OF G-D

1  Theories of the whole and the particulars as compared to the totality of G-d.

Trying to figure out Bruce Lee’s philosophy of the “whole”, of the “totality”, of the “absolute”, of “isness”, and of the  “invisible spirit”,  becomes a method or process that is ABSTRACT and which leads to fragmented truth, which seems to have been guided by the “Spirit of Truth”.  In a  particular field or event, it can be applied with beneficial results.   But For a fuller comprehension  and for a better mapped direction of the whole and of its relationship to the particulars, read Pauls understanding of G-d’s corporate relationship with his creation, especially man, in  1 Cor 12:4-27

BRUCE LEE

To obtain enlightment in martial art means the extinction of everything which obscures the "true knowledge," the  "real life."  At the same time, it implies boundless expansion and, indeed, emphasis should fall not on the cultivation of the particular department which merges into the totality, but rather on the totality that enters and unites that particular department.

The way to transcend karma lies in the proper use of the mind and the will.  The oneness of all life is a truth that can be fully realized only when false notions of a separate self, whose destiny can be considered apart from the whole, are forever annihilated.

The localization of the mind means its freezing.  When it ceases to flow freely as it is needed, it is no more the mind in its suchness.

The "Immovable" is the concentration of energy at a given focus, as at the axis of a wheel, instead of dispersal in scattered activities.

"Artless art" is the artistic process within the artist; its meaning is "art of the sould."   All the various moves of all the tools means a stp on the way to the absolute aesthetic world of the soul.

The art of Jeet Kune Do is simply to simplify.  It is being oneself; it is reality in its "isness"  Thus, isness is the meaning-having freedom in its primary sense, not limited by attachments, confinements, partialization, complexities.

Because of the pure-heartedness and empty-mindeness inherent in man, his tools partake of these qualities and play their role with the utmost degree of freedom.  The tools stand as symbols of the invisible spirit, keeping the mind, body and limbs in full activity.

When there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity.  Life is a relationship to the whole.

How can one respond to the totality with partial, fragmentary pattern?

Having totality means being capable of following "what is," because "what is" is constantly moving and constantly changing.  If one is anchored to a particular view, one will not be able to follow the swift movement of "what is".

Thinking is not freedom-all thought is partial; it can never be total.  Thought is the response of memory and memory is always partial, because memory is the result of experience.  So, thought is the reaction of a mind conditioned by experience.

Concentration is a narrowing down of the mind.  But we are concerned with the total process of living and to concentrate exclusively on any particular aspect of life, belittles life.

Self-expression is total, immediate, without conception of time, and you can only express that if you are free, physically and mentally, from fragmentation.

Please do not be concerned with soft versus firm, kicking versus striking, grappling versus hitting and kicking, long-range fighting versus in-fighting.  There is no such thing as "this" is better than "that."  Should there be one thing we must guard against, let it be partiality that robs us of our pristine wholeness and makes us lose unity in the midst of duality.

PAUL

The First Letter from Yeshua's Emissary Sha'ul (Paul) to the Messianic Community in Corinth-I CORINTHIANS 12:4-27

  4
Now there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit gives them.  5 Also there are different ways of serving, but it is the same Lord being served.  6 And there are different modes of working, but it is the same God working them all in everyone.  7 Moreover, to each person is given the particular manifestation of the Spirit that will be for the common good.  8 To one, through the Spirit, is given a word of wisdom; to another, a work of knowledge, in accordance with the same Spirit; 9 to another, faith, by the same Spirit; and to another, gifts of healing, by the one Spirit; 10 to another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the ability to judge between spirits; to another, the ability to speak in different kinds of tongues; and to yet another, the ability to interpret tongues.  11 One and the same Spirit is at work in all these things, distributing to each person as he chooses.  12 For just as the body is one but has many parts; and all the parts of the body, though many, constitute one body; so it is with the Messiah.  13 For it was by one Spirit that we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free; and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14 For indeed the body is not one part but many.  15 If the foot says, "I'm not a hand, so I'm not part of the body," that doesn't make it stop being part of the body.   16 And if the ear says, "I'm not an eye, so I'm not part of the body," that doesn't make it stop being part of the body.  17 If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If it were all hearing, how could it smell?  18 But as it is, God arranged each of the parts in the body exactly as he wanted them.  19 Now if they were all just one part, where would the body be?  20 But as it is, there are indeed many parts, yet just one body.  21 So the eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you"; or the head to the feet, "I don't need you."  22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be less important turn out to be all the more necessary; 23 and upon body parts which we consider less dignified we bestow greater dignity; and the parts that aren't attractive are the ones we make as attractive as we can, 24 while our attractive parts have no need for such treatment. Indeed, God has put the body together in such a way that he gives greater dignity to the parts that lack it, 25 so that there will be no disagreements within the body, but rather all the parts will be equally concerned for all the others.  26 Thus if one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; and if one part is honored, all the parts share its happiness.
27 Now you together constitute the body of the Messiah, and individually you are parts of it.
